XCAPI License file update

Introduction

XCAPI Software is a perpetual license from TE-Systems Inc.   BNS Group is the authorised partner in Australia for XCAPI.  

XCAPI software update service (SUS) is a maintenance service which allows a customer to upgrade the version of XCAPI with a valid license file incorporating an updated SUS expiry date.

License Files

Customers can contact BNS to generate a new license file which incorporates the latest SUS expiration date.   A new license file can be updated automatically from the XCAPI Configuration if Internet connectivity is available from the FAX Server. 

Assuming that Internet is not available, contact BNS to create a new license file.

Updating a license file without Internet 

It is possible for you to register on the TE-Systems Inc Community web site at TE-SYSTEMS | competence in e-communications. Registering allows you to active and re-activate your own license files or BNS can do this for you. 

Contact BNS if you require updated license files which have a new SUS expiration date.

Why do I need to obtain a new XCAPI License file?    

If you wish to update the version of XCAPI for any reason, XCAPI upgrade processes will check if the SUS expiration date is valid before allowing you to upgrade the version of software.   If you plan to udate the version of XCAPI then you must install an updated license file before performing the upgrade on the Fax Server. 

If you do not plan to update the version of XCAPI  you do not need to worry about updating the license file unless you simply want to see the expiration date being valid in the XCAPI License section of the XCAPI configuration.

Procedure to update the license without Internet on the fax server

• Request BNS to provide you with an updated license file.  BNS will require the LOD key and MAC address for the license.
• BNS will supply a license file for the Fax server(s).
• Create a change request internally
• Snapshot the VM first
• Login to the fax server with administrator permissions
• Stop the fax server software by running CMD (Run as administrator) then issue the command FAXSTOP
• Run XCAPI Configuration software
• 
• Delete all license files first
• Select the start wizard button
• Import a license file
• Select the license file provided by BNS for this fax server
• After licenses have been added, select File, Save to save the configuration
• Start the fax server software by running CMD (Run as administrator) then issue the command FAXSTART
• Confirm operations by sendingreceiving a fax to a known number
